Gand-Wevelgem. La première « véritable » classique flandrienne du Women’s WorldTour 2018 aura lieu ce dimanche. Gand-Wevelgem prend ainsi la suite des Driedaagse Brugge-De Panne très animées jeudi d’où est sortie vainqueur Jolien D’Hoore (Mitchelton-Scott). La championne de Belgique avait justement fini 2ème ici l’an dernier, battue par la Finlandaise Lotta Lepisto (Cervélo-Bigla). Gand-Wevelgem Juniors. Les Juniors auront également leur course dimanche dans les Flandres avec la 2ème manche de la Coupe des Nations. L’épreuve se déroulera à Ieper (Ypres) sur 70,8 km (6 tours de 11,8 km). L’équipe de France sera composée de Victoire Berteau, Léa Curinier, Victoria Cushing, Laura Da Cruz, Marie Le Net et Jade Wiel qui a fini 2ème à Cittiglio lors du Trofeo Binda il y a six jours. Les Bleues sont d’ailleurs 2ème du classement général derrière la Grande-Bretagne.

Team Virtu Cycling. Omniprésente jeudi sur les bords de la mer du Nord (à trois dans l’échappée du jour puis le beau solo de Mieke Kroeger finalement reprise après la flamme rouge), la formation scandinave espère mieux qu’une 10ème place obtenue à La Panne par Christina Sigaard. La Danoise ainsi que l’Allemande devraient être de nouveau présentes, tout comme Emilie Moberg, Kasia Pawlowska ou Barbara Guarischi.
